Application
ZAR® Paint and Varnish Remover liberally using a brush or roller, ensuring the entire area to be stripped is covered. Let the finish soften until gentle scraping can expose the bare surface.* Don’t rush – let the remover do the work. Avoid application in direct sunlight. Check the coating every 15 minutes for ease of removal by gently scraping the surface. Several applications may be necessary depending on the thickness and the age of the coating to be removed. If a second application is required, apply it directly over the first coat. On rounded or uneven surfaces, the use of an old toothbrush simplifies the removal process. Allow ZAR® Paint and Varnish Remover to sit on the surface for 15 minutes for latex or oil-based paints. For removing polyurethane coatings, allow the product to sit on the surface for 15 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the type of polyurethane. When the remover has completely penetrated the coating, remove it with a scraper or a nonabrasive pad. If you’re recoating the surface, wipe it with a damp cloth to remove any residual product. Two-component epoxy coatings and masonry waterproofing paints may require several applications to completely remove the coating.
